The search for a 42-year-old man, identified as Stephen Williams, has intensified after he was reported missing following his last sighting near a prominent downtown hotel. According to Pittsburgh Police, Williams was last seen last Friday, leaving the Downtown Wyndham at 11:15 p.m. and was subsequently spotted just past midnight on Strawberry Way by the U.S. Steel Building, as confirmed by the City of Pittsburgh news release.
In an effort to accelerate the investigation, detectives have attempted to trace Williams' movements and have learned that his cell phone was found at Point State Park, which is in close vicinity to the Wyndham, by an unhoused individual late Friday night - it's unclear how the phone ended up there or where Williams went after the phone was dropped.
Stephen Williams is described as 5'6" tall, weighing about 130 pounds, and was last spotted wearing distinctly casual attire: a white and red baseball cap, a white Michael Jordan jersey, blue jeans, paired with red and white Jordan shoes.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward, no tip being too small to aid in the efforts to locate Williams, and have provided the contact numbers 412-323-7141 for the Special Victims Unit and the emergency services at 911 for immediate assistance.
