Last night, in the typically quiet community of Northview Heights, a juvenile female was the unexpected victim of a shooting, an isolated incident which is now under the magnifying glass of the Pittsburgh Police force; at around 9:20 p.m., officials arrived at the scene shortly after a lone gunshot was detected by ShotSpotter technology on the 170 block of Penfort Street, according to a report from the City of Pittsburgh's official website.
The young lady, found with a single bullet wound to her leg, was outdoors when officers arrived no suspect was in the vicinity, Pittsburgh Police from Zone 1 canvassed the area for witnesses and evidence but the perpetrator had already fled, a communal sense of safety now pierced by the sound of that one round, the Pittsburgh EMS quickly transported the injured party to a local hospital where she remains in stable condition.
After the incident, the Mobile Crime Unit arrived and carefully reviewed all the surveillance footage for clues. The community, now alert and uneasy, watched their investigation closely.
