Pittsburgh's looking at a string of dry and warm days ahead, folks. If you're planning any outdoor activities this week, the weather's giving you the green light. According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, high pressure reigning over the Northeast US is keeping those rain clouds at bay at least through the next week.

Starting today, we're expecting temperatures to run about 5 degrees above the seasonal average, so maybe ditch the sweater. The National Weather Service also reported some mid and high clouds drifting in this afternoon, courtesy of an upper trough sweeping southeast across the Ohio Valley region. There's a bit of dry air keeping the rain chances low, however.

Looking ahead to Sunday and Monday night, it's pretty much the same song. Clouds should then decrease overnight after the passage of the trough, according to the agency's statement. An upper-level ridge building out west is supposed to shuffle east early next week, pushing those thermometers up a notch. Highs are expected to soar approximately 10 degrees above average by Monday, so it might be time to crank up that AC.

The rest of the week appears to follow suit with warm temperatures and mostly dry conditions. While dew points are hanging around the 50s, keep in mind the nights are staying only a few degrees above average. But, later in the week, there's a bit of a question mark, as the ridge looks like it may start to crack under the pressure of an approaching coastal low and another Midwestern trough. Still, "Maintained a dry forecast through this period, with little if any support for rain expected under this pattern," the National Weather Service advises. That means temperatures are set to keep on the overheated side of the gauge.

What about flying conditions? Well, if you're zipping through the skies, expect smooth sailing. Early morning fog might tangle with visibility near river valleys, but with high pressure in charge, VFR (that's visual flight rules for the uninitiated) should be the norm.

No alerts, no fuss. Pittsburgh is primed for a week of sunshine and balmy temps—plan accordingly.
