As reported by FOX5 Vegas, the disruption initially prompted the college to call off classes until 5 p.m. However, as the outage persisted, the decision was made to cancel all classes for the remainder of the day and night.
An update from the college later in the evening confirmed the power had been restored, allowing for classes and college operations to quickly resume today. The outage, which began around 2 p.m. yesterday, affected 261 customers in the area near the Charleston Campus. NV Energy, the utility company, scrambled to investigate the cause and to swiftly restore power across the affected Clark County, where 35 outages had disrupted service to more than 2,300 customers throughout the day.
The power outage drew attention via social media and push alerts, as students and staff were advised of the closures and updated timely by the college. 8 News Now noted that the college kept its community informed, emphasizing that further information would be provided concerning the status of evening activities.
