Last Saturday, more than 600 residents lost power in Wake Forest after an outage occurred west of South Main Street/US 1A. Wake Forest Power confirmed that a squirrel was the cause of the disruption.
According to the Town of Wake Forest, the outage began in the early hours, leaving homes and businesses without electricity. At 10:10 a.m., the company reported that the cause was unknown and there was no timeline for restoration. Power was later restored after crews identified and resolved the issue.
During the outage, residents were directed to use Wake Forest Power’s online outage map and reporting tool for updates. The company has not released further details on preventive measures or the exact sequence of events but confirmed that service is back to normal.
