Commuters in the Pueblo area, brace yourselves for some detours and longer drive times. The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has announced significant closures happening at the I-25/US 50B interchange to make way for construction upgrades. Beginning the evening of October 10, drivers will lose access to the southbound I-25 off-ramp to eastbound US 50B and the westbound US 50B on-ramp to southbound I-25, as reported by CDOT.

The long-term closure, starting at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 10, is part of a substantial undertaking to rebuild and improve the interchange. Announced by CDOT, driving in the area, they will not only demolish the existing ramps and US 50B structure over I-25 but will also introduce a new diverging diamond interchange to enhance safety and drivability. As an alternative, motorists are being directed to make use of Colorado Highway 47 to access their respective destinations.

According to CDOT, those headed west on US 50B will need to use CO 47 (Exit 318) to join southbound I-25, while CO 47 (Exit 101) will serve as the detour for those driving south on I-25 to get onto eastbound US 50B. These traffic changes are expected to remain in effect until the interchange project reaches substantial completion in early summer 2027, as part of the broader $114 million construction efforts that broke ground in December 2024.
