Raleigh is preparing to unveil the proposed South Park Heritage Trail, which will cover about two miles and highlight the historically Black neighborhood within the South Park Cultural District. According to the City of Raleigh’s official website, the trail aims to raise awareness of the area’s role in downtown Raleigh’s history.
A public engagement session is planned for Tuesday next week at John Chavis Memorial Park. The event will begin at 6 p.m. with a presentation, followed by a question-and-answer segment at 6:30 p.m., and an open house from 7 to 8 p.m. The session is open to all ages and invites residents to learn about the project and provide input.
City officials have stated that feedback from the public engagement session will help shape the trail and ensure it reflects the experiences of the South Park community.
