
Nearly 300 Raleigh residents, and 90 exhibitors came together for a day filled with workshops and inspiring talks at the second annual Engage Raleigh Expo on Sept. 13. The expo played host to discussions and interactive sessions aimed at celebrating and enhancing community engagement across generations, as reported by the City of Raleigh's community news.
The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Valencia Hicks-Harris, Executive Director of Empower All, Inc., as the keynote speaker. In keeping with this year's theme, "One Community, Many Generations," Dr. Hicks-Harris delivered a poignant message about the significance of fostering intergenerational bonds and nurturing a shared community experience. "One Community, Many Generations" infused the day with a spirit of solidarity and forward-thinking, highlighting the potential for unity in diversity.
Workshops spanned a range of practical and community-centric topics, from legacy building and strengthening intergenerational relationships to promoting digital literacy and helping college students thrive. According to the City of Raleigh's announcement, the sessions provided attendees strategies and insights on how to contribute to a cohesive, resilient city.
The expo also offered a chance for attendees to engage in storytelling and prepare for community-wide needs in an atmosphere that championed shared learning, and civic participation.
