Adam Procell, leading the charge as the Director of the Office of Community Wellness and Safety, will be at the helm of the discussion on Thursday, October 2.
Contributing to a safer Milwaukee, Procell, who has dedicated his life to violence prevention and justice system reforms, is said to have found his calling after his 23-year prison stint for murder. "He is fully engaged in making Milwaukee a safer community, and he has my support," Mayor Cavalier Johnson remarked in a statement obtained by the City of Milwaukee's official communication channels. Serving the city now, Procell's role sees him at the core of developing outreach strategies that go beyond mere policing - focusing instead on nurturing resiliency and healing in the community.
According to the City of Milwaukee, in his commitment to redefining wellness and safety, Procell has described this turning point as one where the city can envision new ways to foster these ideals through avenues of healing and shared efforts. The Office of Community Wellness and Safety, under Procell, is poised to bring forth visions of lasting change, aiming to build infrastructures resonant with equity and resilience for Milwaukee's future generations. The Director facilitates 'Home To Stay,' a vital resource fair for the reentry community, and coordinates the efforts of the Milwaukee Reentry Council. He is the creative mind behind Act 233, a piece of Wisconsin law advocating for systemic collaboration—an effort embodying the essence of his leadership. Procell, a vanguard in social reform, also founded Paradigm Shyft, a consultancy focused on justice system reform, and teaches at Marquette University.
