A rideshare encounter turned violent on Saturday morning in Southwest DC when a disagreement escalated into an alleged attempted stabbing incident.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the situation began around 9:45 a.m. when a female rideshare driver was picking up a passenger in the 1100 block of 4th street, Southwest. An argument ensued between the driver and the passenger, who was later identified as Inga Hodges, 55, of Southeast, DC. Tensions rapidly escalated, leading Hodges to purportedly brandish a kitchen knife and attempt to stab the victim.
The brief but dangerous altercation was halted by a special police officer who intervened to stop Hodges. MPD officers arrived shortly after to make an arrest, finding the knife still on Hodges' person. The victim, whose identity has not been released, flagged down the officers following the incident.
Hodges has been charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Knife), as confirmed by MPD's release. There’s no word yet on whether the victim sustained any injuries in the incident or what may have specifically sparked off the dispute between the driver and Hodges.
