A tragic collision took place in Washington County last Saturday, claiming the life of a 32-year-old Ripon woman. FOX6 News reported the incident occurred at approximately 11:15 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 175 and County Road S, marking the fifth fatal crash in the county for the current year. Eyewitnesses and the first deputy on the scene extracted the woman from her vehicle, having sustained critical injuries which later proved fatal at a local hospital. The semi driver, a 53-year-old Pennsylvania man, was released shortly after being treated for minor injuries.
The details gathered by authorities suggest, according to a TMJ4 report, that the woman's car was traveling west on County Road S and, after failing to yield at a stop sign, collided with the southbound semi on Highway 175. After the crash shut down the intersection for about four hours, traffic was restored, but the reminders of what transpired linger in the minds of locals.
The Washington County Sheriff's Office has reinforced the critical need for motorists to adhere to traffic signs. "This incident marks the fifth fatal motor vehicle crash in Washington County in 2025," a release from the sheriff's office said, as per TMJ4. The findings of the preliminary investigation were echoed by WISN, which noted the investigators' belief that the woman who was killed failed to heed a stop sign.
