Travelers and commuters along Interstate 30 should prepare for a series of lane closures scheduled for the upcoming week. According to an alert from Rockwall County, from today, September 14, through Saturday, September 20, the eastbound and westbound left lanes of I-30 will see overnight closures for bridge and earthwork activities near Sabine Creek and FM 35, among other locations. The closures will take place from 9 PM to 5 AM each night, affecting various segments of the interstate.
The construction efforts are focused on improving the roadway through a variety of activities, including placing hot mix, pavement activities, and relocating concrete safety barriers (CSB). For those traveling at night, significant delays along I-30 are expected. Drivers should plan accordingly, keeping an eye out for flagging operations and lane shifts. The FM 548 northbound and southbound lanes will also be subject to a flagging operation between 9 AM to 3 PM for embankment, removals, and bridge activities at Pond Branch.
Daytime travelers are not left unaffected, as daytime closures will also impact the flow of traffic. The FM 3549 east-to-west and west-to-east U-turns will be closed for bridge activities, with closures scheduled from 9 AM to 3 PM, Monday through Saturday. Moreover, portions of the I-30 frontage roads will experience lane closures and flagging operations during the same hours for various construction operations, including the placement of hot mix and relocation of low-profile concrete barriers (LPCB).
