In a recent food safety alert, One Frozen, LLC, a Rochester-based company, has issued a voluntary recall of its Good & Gather Southwest-Style Burrito Bowl Blend. This frozen meal, sold in 12oz bags and distributed through Target stores nationwide, has been found to possibly contain shrimp—an ingredient that was not declared on the label. This oversight puts individuals with a shellfish allergy at risk of a life-threatening allergic reaction. According to The Miami Herald, the recall covers six lot numbers: L5055-1 through L5055-6.
With 57,240 consumer units affected, the recall includes bags that have a best by date of August 24, 2026. The presence of an undeclared allergen is indeed no small matter, as it poses a significant health threat to those with shellfish allergies. The issue came to light following three consumer complaints about the unexpected presence of shrimp in this product. Despite the severity of potential allergic reactions, no illnesses have been reported as of the recall date, as mentioned in a company announcement on the FDA's website.
One Frozen, LLC is working closely with the FDA in conducting this recall. For those concerned, the specific product details are: UPC 085239931356, with lot codes located under the Nutrition Label on the back of the packaging. If you find that you've purchased one of these products, One Frozen, LLC and Target urge you to not consume it. Target Guest Relations can be contacted at (800) 444-0680 for a full refund. Martin Spisak, reachable at [email protected], is the designated contact for media inquiries.
Those who have already bought the potentially contaminated Good & Gather burrito bowl blends should check their freezers and ensure that any affected product is not consumed, especially by individuals with a shellfish allergy. Customers can follow the steps outlined by One Frozen, LLC to receive a refund, demonstrating the company's quick response to protect their consumers. "People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to shellfish run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product," the company explained in its official statement.
