The County Tax Office is packing up and heading to fresher digs. According to an official statement from Rockwall County's website, the Tax Office will shut its doors at the Historic Courthouse on Thursday, as it prepares to transition to its new home at the Rockwall County Courthouse Annex. The new spot, located at 1101 E. Yellow Jacket Lane, Suite 110, Rockwall, TX 75087, boasts modern facilities that are expected to streamline the tax-related process for citizens.
During the moving period, the Tax Office will be closed from September 19 to September 22, and will resume operations on September 23. Over the years, the Historic Courthouse has been the go-to for essential services such as vehicle registration, title transfers, and issuing disability placards for nearly 14 years, and the transition is a significant change for locals.
The County's announcement highlighted the planned improvements that aim to provide a better experience for visitors. An "innovative queuing system" has been touted as a core feature of the new location, where visitors can specify their needs and get matched with a dedicated clerk. This system is designed to cut waiting times, letting visitors make use of a comfortable lobby and desk areas to fill out necessary paperwork.
