Big news for affordable housing in Rolesville as the Board of Commissioners has greenlit a collaboration with Habitat for Humanity of Wake County. The town's first affordable housing initiative will take root on a chunk of land owned by the Town, spreading over 6.48 acres at 4950 Burlington Mills Road. Information per a Rolesville announcement yesterday.
Rolesville joins the ranks with other Wake County towns that have seen the fruit of Habitat's labor. The move by the Commissioners in their recent meeting marks a significant step towards addressing housing affordability. And while specifics such as site design and how many homes will be squeezed onto the land are still up in the air, the wheels are in motion. Habitat for Humanity has made its mark across Wake County municipalities, but this project is the organization's first dance with Rolesville.
We're seeing a push from local governments to tackle the scarcity of affordable housing, and partnering with established entities like Habitat for Humanity may just be the ticket for more inclusive future developments.
