More than a decade after its inception, in 2014, Round Rock revisited the logo when adapting it to digital platforms proved tricky. Despite the practical need for a refresh, the city chose to keep its brush-stroke star, an emblem that had garnered widespread recognition and trust amongst its populace. "The mark has held up surprisingly well for something that’s 20-plus years old... It’s so rock solid right now… There is so much equity built into it," Will Hampton, the then Director of Communications and Marketing, told City of Round Rock shortly before his retirement.
