Yesterday morning, a stabbing incident in downtown Sacramento's K Street tunnel left one man hospitalized and another behind bars. Officers responded to the scene just after 12:45 a.m. where they found a male victim with at least one stab wound. As reported by KCRA, the authorities quickly rendered emergency medical aid before the injured man was taken to a hospital and determined to be in stable condition.
Detectives at the scene detained 21-year-old Laverne Parker of Sacramento, who was later to formally be arrested on suspicion of felony assault following an on-scene investigation. "Parker remains in custody as of Sunday night and is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 16," KCRA specifies, citing Sacramento County Jail records. The circumstances leading up to the stabbing, including a potential motive or the relationship between Parker and the victim, have not yet been disclosed.
As the investigation continues, details remain scarce. The victim's name and city of residence have been withheld from the public. According to a statement given by Public Information Officer Anthony Gamble and obtained by Public Safety News, it is also not known if either the victim or Parker had been attending a nearby concert before the stabbing took place. The K Street tunnel, a connector between Old Sacramento and the Downtown Commons, was the site where Parker was ultimately taken into custody.
