While Rocklin slumbered, a stop for multiple violations conducted by its police department led to the arrest of a Sacramento man. According to a social media statement from the Rocklin Police Department, in the early hours of Monday, patrol officers made a proactive stop near Sunset Blvd. and Hwy 65 for various infractions.
The driver, 38-year-old Onje Griffin, was found on parole for robbery and ID theft, and his license had been suspended following a DUI conviction. When approaching the vehicle, officers observed narcotics paraphernalia, which subsequently led to a more thorough search. During this search, they discovered not only the paraphernalia but also a sawed-off shotgun, shotgun ammunition, and a substance suspected to be methamphetamine. The discovery prompted Griffin's arrest on numerous charges, including felon in possession of a firearm and narcotics possession while armed.
The Rocklin Police Department praised the diligent efforts of the involved officers, naming Officer Davis and Officer Chavez for their "excellent work" in the field, which likely took illegal weapons and drugs off the streets.
