The Sacramento County District Attorney's Office has reported that Jerry Egy, a 47-year-old man, was sentenced to an extensive prison term for his crimes against multiple children. On October 18, 2024, Egy received a sentence of 71 years to life for sexually assaulting five child victims. This case, which has been closely tracked since its inception, came to a close when the Honorable David Bonilla handed down the sentence after Egy pled no contest to a series of charges that included three counts of forcible lewd act upon a child.
It was revealed by the Sacramento District Attorney's Office that Egy's list of predatory actions ranged from forcible lewd acts to supplying methamphetamine to a teenage girl and coercing her into oral copulation. His youngest victims were between 8 and 11, and one endured abuse that spanned several years. Egy has been convicted of sexually assaulting two 13-year-old children back when he was 19 or 20. California law stipulates that Egy will be eligible for an Elder Parole hearing once he turns 50 and has served 20 years, indicating that he could be released in about 18 years due to in-custody credits.
Deputy District Attorney Dinah Mielke, who is part of the Special Assault & Child Abuse Unit, prosecuted the case against Egy. Mielke's efforts brought to light the severe breaches of trust and the impact of Egy's actions on his victims. In addition to the physical violations, one of the young victims was commanded by Egy to stay silent about the abuse, a common tactic among child predators to maintain their injurious control.
