Amid rising concerns for student safety, a disturbing revelation came to light after Sacramento Police Department (SPD) officers intervened following a junior high school altercation and subsequent online threats. According to an SPD social media post, the North Violent Crime Reduction (NVCR) Team took point on the investigation, leading to a search warrant executed last Thursday.
Following through with their findings, the NVCR Team orchestrated a search that uncovered a small arsenal and illicit substances at a local residence. Found living with one stolen handgun, two additional handguns, an AK-47-style rifle, and an AR-15-style rifle was 34-year-old Jose Gomez, along with several ounces of cocaine and a sum of cash. Gomez, from Sacramento, now faces various firearm, threat, and narcotics charges.
These kinds of operations often fly under the public's radar, yet they are instrumental in safeguarding the community's well-being. "These types of investigations are often unseen by the the public at large, but certainly make an impact on the quality of life and safety of our Sacramento community," stated the SPD in their announcement. The department expressed gratitude towards the NVCR team for their diligence in apprehending a prohibited person and seizing these weapons.
