The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City is forecasting a mixed bag of weather conditions for the upcoming week, with chances of showers and thunderstorms punctuating what otherwise promises to be an eclectic mix of sunny days and partly cloudy nights. According to the National Weather Service, today might bring a 50 percent chance of rainfall and stormy activities, mainly swinging in after noon. If you're out and about, expect partly sunny skies with the high flirting with the 77-degree mark, while winds, starting from the east southeast at a mellow 5 to 7 mph, are expected to switch up to southwest later in the day.
Tonight, the likelihood of showers and thunderstorms will diminish to around a 20 percent chance before we say goodbye to the daylight at 9 pm. The night sky should then clear up partly, setting the stage for a low of about 58 degrees, while winds persist from the east southeast at a gentle 6 mph.
As we step into Monday, the NWS predicts a bright, sunny day with high temperatures tempting us to break out the shorts and sandals at a comfortable 80 degrees. The wind isn't looking to dramatically change its script, sticking to the east southeast between 5 and 8 mph before opting to again play it cool from the south southwest by afternoon. But don't get too cozy with the clear blue because Monday night has a 20 percent chance of bringing showers once the clock ticks past midnight. Temps will hang at a low of around 61 degrees, as the southeast wind blows subtly at about 7 mph.
Tuesday's narrative looks a tad more uncertain with a 50/50 chance of showers and possible thunderstorms after 9 am, so pack that umbrella. The day will likely remain partly sunny, though, with the mercury aiming for a high near 76 degrees. Expect the southeast wind to maintain a presence, breezing through at a slightly brisker 6 to 10 mph. Come Tuesday night, the skies are expected to barely clear, peeling back clouds to partly reveal the cosmos and a low close to 57 degrees.
Midweek musings by the NWS suggest a pattern of sunnier intervals as we say hello to Wednesday with an anticipated high near 79 degrees and a midweek nocturnal dip touching 59 degrees under a mostly clear sky. If it's consistency you're after, Thursday might just be your day with a sunny high of around 81 degrees and a repeat of partly cloudy conditions come nightfall, dragging the lows back down to the 57-degree mark.
However, the forecast hints that we should not get too settled in that sunniness, Friday is set to challenge us with a chance of showers and thunderstorms amid a partly sunny day, with the high taking a slight tumble to 73 degrees. The chances of nighttime showers and storms are apt to decline, leaving us with a low that could drop to the end-of-summer feel of 49 degrees. Saturday speaks of only a slight chance of showers in the narrative, as it hides mostly sunny moods behind a high of 66 degrees.
