Two children, Sevani Stevenson, 6, and Miyani Islar, 3, died on the far West Side of San Antonio after being found in a hot car last Saturday afternoon. The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victims. Their mother, Tiona Lasaisha Islar, 28, has been charged in connection with their deaths.
According to FOX San Antonio, Islar said she last saw her children alive around 10 a.m. and found them unresponsive in the car at about 3 p.m. Deputies arrived at the home on Chancery Gate and Appleton Way and attempted life-saving measures, which were unsuccessful.
As reported by My San Antonio, Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar told that there were inconsistencies in the mother’s account. Islar was arrested on two counts of Injury to a Child SBI/Death, a second-degree felony, and her bond was set at $300,000.
The sheriff’s office is asking neighbors who might have video footage between 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Saturday to contact BCSO at 210-335-6000 or email [email protected] to assist with the investigation.
