San Antonio law enforcement and Crime Stoppers are intensifying efforts to locate and apprehend 19-year-old Marco Vasquez, who is wanted for capital murder in connection with a drive-by shooting that claimed the life of 44-year-old Antonio Sanchez. This violent act unfolded on Aug. 11 in the 400 block of Southlawn Avenue, a neighborhood that was suddenly catapulted into mourning, as reported by KSAT.
The search for Vasquez comes after the arrest of his alleged accomplice, Rafael Ricardo Jesus Almendarez, who was taken into custody following his involvement in the incident. Vasquez and Almendarez, identified as brothers, are accused of orchestrating a deadly scenario that involved holding the victim’s friends hostage and then luring Sanchez to what became the site of his demise, "Alemendarez was arrested after fleeing a traffic stop and admitted to officers about driving away in the vehicle," according to KSAT.
The case, which has gripped San Antonio, has painted a distressing image of Vasquez, who remains at large, elusive to the grasp of justice. As mentioned by Fox San Antonio, "He is known to have a lot of hair, a thick mustache, and neck tattoos specifically on his left side the words ‘hahaha’." The portrayal of Vasquez serves a practical purpose, to alert public awareness and possibly aid in his capture.
Vasquez's distinct physical features, inclusive of the word "hahaha" inked on the skin of his neck, could be telling of a man who perhaps did not foresee the magnitude of his actions, the weight of a human life reduced to an echo of villainous laughter, as per KSAT. Authorities encourage anyone with information to act immediately and call 911. He is also wanted for two counts of aggravated kidnapping, with Bexar County court records underlining the severe nature of the offenses he is connected to.
