Bexar County Sheriff's Office deputies have made a significant drug bust on the south side, seizing a substantial quantity of marijuana and thousands in cash. The operation took place earlier this week, and details of the incident have been released by local news sources. According to KENS5, close to 74 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of around $185,000 were confiscated during a search warrant executed at a residence on the 900 block of South Alamo Street.
Before deputies served the search warrant on September 2, they had observed Juan Gonzales leaving the residence with what appeared to be a large trash bag. When Gonzales inadvertently dropped the bag, it was reportedly found to contain marijuana. The discovery quickly escalated to a full search of the property. As detailed by FOX San Antonio, upon entry, authorities found more packages of marijuana amounting to nearly 74 pounds and $8,450 in cash believed to be proceeds from drug transactions.
Gonzales was arrested on the scene and has since been booked into the Bexar County Jail. His charges are for possession of marijuana, ranging from 4 ounces to 5 pounds. This incident underlines the ongoing efforts of the Bexar County Sheriff's Office to crack down on illicit drug operations within its jurisdiction.
