Yesterday, the San Francisco Fire Department (SFFD) performed a cliffside rescue near Battery Godfrey in the Presidio. The emergency call, which came in around 3:30 PM, reported an adult in distress, falling or stuck on the precarious slope. Agile and decisive, SFFD teams rushed to the site, the rescue unfolding a mere stone's throw from the Golden Gate's sweeping views and treacherous drops.
Assisting them, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) dispatched Helicopter H-30, and the United States Park Police lent their support, each entity playing their roles with the precision of a well-oiled machine. The trapped individual, wise enough to have called 911 with their exact location, saved precious minutes that can mean the difference between life and death, or so was the precarious nature of their situation. According to the San Francisco Fire Department's social media post, the adult sustained only minor injuries and is expected to recover fully.
The San Francisco Fire Department has reiterated the importance of sticking to the designated trails, avoiding the hazardous cliff sides, and not climbing on rocks in a bid to prevent future mishaps.
