A Sanford man has been found guilty of a brutal 2022 ambush that claimed the life of an 18-year-old, Isaiah Diaz. Thallas Inman Jr., 23, was convicted by a Seminole County jury on counts including first-degree premeditated murder, as reported by ClickOrlando. According to Sanford police, the calculated attack involved Inman and two accomplices who, wielding rifles, discharged over 50 rounds into a red Kia Optima outside Hatteras Sound Apartments on November 20, 2022.
The consequence of the gunfire was tragic: Diaz was pronounced dead due to "a massive amount of wounds", one passenger was injured by gunfire, and another sustained minor wounds. Despite surveillance footage being released to the public and the shooter's mother identifying him to police, when she, Tammy Spivey, refused to testify in court, she was subsequently held in contempt and sentenced to nearly six months in jail, as reported by FOX 35 Orlando. The other men involved have yet to be apprehended.
Inman faces life imprisonment, and his sentencing is slated for October 7. This conviction is a grim footnote to Inman's criminal history, as he served six years for an attempted murder conviction before being released from state prison in December 2021.
