The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office is on the hunt for the suspect or suspects responsible for a shooting that tragically ended the life of a 17-year-old boy in Coachella, while also leaving two other teenagers critically injured. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, prompting deputies from the Thermal Station to the 49000 block of Corte Molino at 3:45 a.m. in response to an assault with a deadly weapon call, as reported by KTLA.

Upon arrival, law enforcement officers discovered three young males with gunshot wounds. They quickly tried to render medical aid, but despite the efforts to save lives, the young man identified as Alberto Castillo Jr., a Coachella resident, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two victims were transported to local hospitals and remain in critical condition. The suspects remain unidentified and at large, with authorities yet to describe those involved in the shooting, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Office.

The Riverside Sheriff's Central Homicide Unit has since taken over the investigation and is urgently requesting public assistance. The public has been encouraged to come forward with any information that might help to swiftly identify those involved. No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains active and ongoing. The Riverside County Sheriff's Office is adamant about the importance of community involvement and further encourages anyone who may know anything regarding the incident to step forward and contact Central Homicide Unit Master Investigator Castaneda at (951) 955–2777 or Thermal Station Investigator Glasper at (760) 863–8990.
