
Officials are currently searching for a man who went missing early this morning after a sailboat accident on Lake Pontchartrain. A social media post from the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office detailed the event, stating, "Early this morning, a sailboat struck the Causeway near mile marker 14." According to the post, both occupants, a man and a woman, were on board when the incident transpired, resulting in the man going overboard and the woman being rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard.
The missing individual's identity has yet to be released as rescue operations endeavour to meticulously comb the area. The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is taking the lead on this investigation. In collaboration, members of the STPSO Marine Division, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, and the U.S. Coast Guard are together making concentrated efforts to recover the missing boater.
