A second suspect has been charged in connection with the tragic death of a 9-year-old Fayette County girl. Sarah Shipley, 35, faces charges including criminal homicide and conspiracy to commit criminal homicide for her involvement in the death of Renesmay Eutsey, who was found dead in a river earlier this week. According to a WPXI report, District Attorney Mike Aubele stated that Shipley is currently hospitalized and will be arraigned once released.
Kourtney Malinda Eutsey, 31, the deceased girl's foster mother and Shipley's wife, was previously charged in the case. The authorities seem to have taken additional time to gather more evidence, which has led to the involvement of Shipley in the harrowing case. "We thank the public for their patience in allowing law enforcement to gather the additional evidence that has led to us filing these additional charges," Aubele said in a statement detailed by WPXI.
The young girl was reported missing from her home at around 12:41 p.m. last Wednesday, only for her body to be discovered after Kourtney Eutsey led troopers to the site in Westmoreland County. Eutsey and Shipley were the foster parents to Renesmay Eutsey, with reports indicating disturbing details about the treatment of Renesmay within the home. In a criminal complaint, it is alleged that the child was subjected to abuse and neglect, causing outrage in the community and a deep sense of grief.
Disturbing allegations have surfaced, noting abuse in the home where Renesmay lived. District Attorney Aubele, in a CBS News Pittsburgh interview, mentioned signs of abuse and what appeared to be cigarette burns on Renesmay's body. In addition to this case, Aubele disclosed the possibility of charges relating to the "torture" of another child from the same household, with further details pending.
