The Shaker Heights Development Corporation (SHDC) has welcomed Naji H. Kelley as its new Commercial Real Estate & Operations Manager, according to a recent announcement by the City of Shaker Heights. In his new role, Kelley is set to manage operations for The Dealership, SHDC’s hub for co-working and event rentals, handle the corporation’s commercial property portfolio, and assist in developing a Special Improvement District along the Chagrin-Lee commercial strip.
Kelley's appointment comes backed with a substantial 15-year track record across various sectors such as supply chain, information technology, and real estate—his experience there is marked by strategic leadership tied to operational efficiency. "We are thrilled to welcome Naji to SHDC," executive director Callie Cripps confirmed, in a statement obtained by the City of Shaker Heights. "His breadth of experience and commitment to community development will be invaluable as we continue advancing Shaker Heights’ economic growth and redevelopment initiatives."
The role is designed to leverage Kelley's history of driving results, and it appears SHDC's expectations are high. He's not only a fresh graduate of the Cleveland Development Advisors’ Equitable Developers Initiative but also part of the Government Affairs Committee of NAIOP Northern Ohio and has been actively involved in Cleveland's realty, shouldering various commitments within the urban development landscape; Kelley's past within these spheres suggests a robust network and a keener insight into the regional market trends.
His military background serves as a cornerstone of his professional development, managing sizable defense logistics operations during his eight years in the U.S. Navy, and that's where Kelley oversaw procurement, inventory, and the global distribution of crucial materials and resources—a testament to his ability to understand and navigate complex organizational structures and supply chains. In conjunction with his real estate expertise, the city of Shaker Heights, which oversees SHDC through a symbiotic partnership, is expected to benefit as it seeks to strengthen its neighborhoods and diversify its tax base.
