Book lovers and community supporters have an upcoming opportunity to indulge their reading habits while supporting the Arlington Public Library. The Friends and Foundation of the Arlington Public Library (FFAPL) is set to host its annual Fall Book Sale from October 7 through October 10, promising attendees a variety of gently used books and media across 36 categories, including brand new books, at affordable prices, per the City of Arlington.
The sale will take place at the First United Methodist Church situated at 313 N. Center St. in Downtown Arlington; the event not only offers a treasure trove for readers with prices starting at just $1 but it also stands as a pillar in fortifying the library’s diverse programs and services, and the fact that the sale has been a recurrent event proves the thriving engagement and generous spirit of the Arlington community when it comes to fostering literacy and learning.
Open shopping days for the public are slated for Wednesday and Thursday, October 8 and 9, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., with the sale wrapping on Friday, October 10, which has been designated as 'Half price day.' According to the information provided, Friday also features a special sale from 4:15 p.m. to 7 p.m. exclusively for teachers and nonprofit workers who, for a suggested $5 donation, can fill a bag with as many books as they can carry, bringing an ID.
While book donations will not be accepted at the sale, monetary contributions to support the Arlington Public Library are encouraged and shoppers are welcome to contribute at the cashier where cash, checks, and credit cards will be accepted, the $5 minimum for card purchases remains unchanged; these funds are vital in ensuring the Library continues to offer a broad spectrum of no-cost resources including but not limited to early literacy, cultural events, adult education, and maker workshops, all of which are instrumental in enriching the community's fabric.
