A stabbing incident in a Simi Valley laundromat led to the detention of Matthew Garren. The event unfolded at around noon yesterday, when police responded to a call from a woman and her daughter who witnessed two men in an altercation, according to the Simi Valley Police Department (SVPD).
Officers responded to 1401 Kuehner Dr., where they contacted Garren, a Simi Valley resident who cooperated with law enforcement. A knife was recovered from him. Garren acknowledged being involved in a verbal dispute but denied stabbing the other individual. The alleged victim, described as a white male in his 60s, could not be located; witnesses said he left the area in a white utility van before officers arrived.
In a statement made by the Simi Valley Police Department, Garren was arrested for brandishing a deadly weapon under California Penal Code 417 and was booked into Ventura County Jail. Authorities are now appealing to the public to step forward with any information that could shed light on the situation or the whereabouts of the potential stabbing victim.
