A South Milwaukee man has been charged with multiple felony counts after allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl in upstate New York. Brandon T. Szyszkiewicz, 26, was arrested in Seneca Falls, a town about an hour away from Syracuse, after luring the young girl from her home in Onondaga County, reported the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

The Seneca Falls Police Department received a tip on Sept. 12, in which Szyszkiewicz was suspected of having groomed the victim online before fleeing with her to a hotel in Seneca Falls. According to a CNYCentral report, which cited Seneca Falls Police Chief Timothy A. Snyder, officers apprehended Szyszkiewicz as they were attempting to quickly leave the hotel premises. The girl was rescued and safely returned to her family.

In the statement from the Seneca Falls Police, Snyder detailed that Szyszkiewicz is now facing five counts of first-degree rape, alongside one count of endangering the welfare of a child. He was initially held at the Onondaga County Correctional Facility on unrelated charges before Seneca Falls Police took over, as per WISN.

Following his arrest, Szyszkiewicz was arraigned in the Seneca County Centralized Arraignment Part Court, where bail was set. According to reports, the judge presiding set bail at $250,000 cash or alternatively a $500,000 insured bond. "He's set to return to court at a later date," Chief Snyder told CNYCentral. The case remains under active investigation, and no further details regarding the condition of the child have been released to the public at this time.
