Schulz – Sonoma County Airport announces the addition of Southwest Airlines to its roster. The carrier's arrival is slated for April 2026, with non-stop service destined for San Diego, Burbank, Las Vegas, and Denver. This expansion enables local flyers to connect more seamlessly with the rest of the continent.
In an announcement sure to please many a wanderluster, Southwest's decision to operate out of Sonoma County promises to diversify and strengthen the region's air travel options. According to the Sonoma County's website, Supervisor James Gore celebrated the news, stating, "We welcome Southwest Airlines to the North Bay family and are excited about this diversity of new destinations." Tickets will become available starting today, allotting ample time for travelers to plan their getaways.
Following the cessation of operations by Avelo Airlines at the Sonoma County Airport in August, Southwest's entrance is a significant gain for the local airport and its patrons. Airport Manager Jon Stout expressed his satisfaction, saying, per the Sonoma County's website, "I’m proud to deliver for the people of Sonoma County. I look forward to a long-lasting partnership."
