
Multiple gunshots were reportedly fired on Butte Creek Road in the Spring area this morning, leading to a lockdown at a nearby elementary school. According to Click2Houston, authorities are on an active hunt for a gunman seen wearing all black, although no casualties from the reported gunfire have been confirmed. The incident has placed Ponderosa Elementary School in a secured state as the search continues.
Following the shooting near the school, Spring ISD officials have affirmed the safety of Ponderosa Elementary School, ensuring the school was secure and not under direct threat. Constable Mark Herman of the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office, as per a statement obtained by KHOU, relayed that heavy police presence was observable in the area and the suspect had fled before deputies could arrive on scene.
Residents have been warned to expect a significant number of law enforcement in and around the vicinity and have been asked to stay clear of the scene for their own safety and to facilitate the investigation. "Please avoid the scene and allow investigators to work safely," read a post from Constable Herman's Office circulated on social media, as cited by KHOU.
As of now, the lockdown at Ponderosa Elementary School remains in place, with authorities diligently working to track down the person responsible for the disruption.
