
On Thursday, members of the Springfield Police Department's Firearms Investigation Unit (FIU), led by Lieutenant Jaime Bruno, made a significant arrest during their ongoing battle against illegal firearms and drug distribution. The operation culminated in the seizure of heroin, a loaded firearm, crack-cocaine, and over $5000 in cash. This happened after a lengthy investigation into Raul Pantoja's activities, which centered on illegal firearms possession and crack-cocaine distribution,
According to the information released on the Springfield Police Department's website, around 11:10 a.m. on Calhoun Street, Pantoja was detained by detectives. On his person were found drug paraphernalia, and more than $5300 in cash, alongside approximately 28 bags of heroin. The subsequent search of his vehicle revealed a loaded firearm with 11 rounds of ammunition and an approximate 86.5 grams of crack-cocaine.
44-year-old Pantoja, a Springfield resident, is facing multiple charges including Cocaine Trafficking 36-100 Grams, Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class A Drug, and firearm-related offenses. His status as a convicted felon adds gravity to the firearms charges, which include being a Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Carrying a Firearm without a License, and Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License.
