On the morning of Friday, Springfield Police made several arrests following the execution of a search warrant at a residence on Vinton Street; among those taken into custody were 42-year-old Danny Ramos and 22-year-old Doughlas Moss. The Springfield's Firearms Investigation Unit (FIU), in conjunction with several law enforcement agencies, conducted the operation that resulted in the seizure of a loaded large capacity firearm with a defaced serial number, drugs, and cash, according to Springfield Police Department news.
The raid was the culmination of a two-month investigation into Moss, who had an outstanding arrest warrant and was apprehended at the scene, where officers found the illegal items and cash in a room that also housed three minors, ages 11 months to nine years.
Ramos, with a substantial history of 58 adult arraignments in the state and previous drug distribution convictions, now faces charges of drug possession with intent to distribute, amongst other violations. The specifics of their individual cases remain under wraps, shielded from the public eye by the cloak of an ongoing investigation.
Luis Yantin, 20, and Netyaliz Collazo, 19, were also arrested, their charges closely related to the illegal possession and reckless storage of a firearm; the detailing of these charges by Springfield Police offering a snapshot of the risks foisted upon the most vulnerable among us.
The individual fates of the accused now rest with the courts as they navigate through the judicial process.
