As residents of St. Peters prepare to observe Columbus Day, the City has announced changes to its operations for the upcoming holiday. On October 13, several public services and facilities will be closed. These include City Hall, the Municipal Court, the Cultural Arts Centre, and the Police Records Division. However, folks should note that there will be no interruptions in trash collection services.
Those looking to spruce up their yards this Columbus Day can breathe easy knowing that services like Trash, Recycling, and Yard Waste collection will continue to run according to their normal schedule. Despite the closures, the St. Peters' Earth Centre plans to keep their gates open for residents to quickly drop off yard waste. On the downside, those seeking to purchase products from the centre will have to wait until Tuesday. According to the City of St. Peters' announcement made yesterday, Recycle City operations will be slightly altered, with offices open from 8-11 a.m. only, but the usual hours are maintained for trash disposal.
For those needing a dose of recreation or fitness, the St. Peters Rec-Plex will welcome visitors despite the closure of its Administrative Offices. They’ve scheduled their Registration Desk hours from 9-11 a.m. and again at 4-7 p.m., allowing residents to conveniently register for programs before or after their usual routines.
The city's official notification provides all the necessary details for the community to plan around these holiday hours. The importance placed on maintaining some semblance of the normal situated routine during federal holidays such as Columbus Day is apparent in the city's effort to balance observance with the continuation of key services. While the city workers take a pause in observance of the holiday, citizens who rely on these services won't need to reschedule their day completely around the closure of city facilities.
