According to WFLA, 41-year-old Brett McClelland was driving a Subaru Outback last night when he swerved into the eastbound lane of 38th Avenue North, resulting in the fatal crash.
The St. Petersburg Police Department reported that this accident occurred around 6:30 p.m. and involved McClelland's vehicle colliding with a black Toyota sedan. His passenger, identified as 89-year-old Angel Shihate, was taken to the hospital with critical injuries and ultimately passed away. WFLA's coverage detailed that McClelland was also treated for injuries at the scene and found to be under the influence, leading to his arrest on charges of DUI manslaughter and DUI causing serious bodily injury.
