Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office has launched a manhunt for 19-year-old Keyante Aaron Reed, identified as a suspect in a recent Riverbank homicide. Reed, a Black male with black hair and brown eyes, approximately 5'10" and weighing around 177 pounds, is wanted for the murder of 41-year-old Markesse W. Owens. A statement from the Sheriff's Office describes Reed as armed and dangerous, urging the public not to approach him and to call 911 if he is spotted.
The incident took place on September 19, when deputies arrived at a residence on the 6100 block of Claus Road following a shooting report. Found suffering from gunshot wounds, Owens was attended by deputies who provided lifesaving measures. Upon securing the residence, two juveniles inside the home were found by deputies, who were thankfully unharmed.
As the investigation unfolded, detectives with the Major Crimes Unit named Reed as a suspect after they dispatched to the scene. A murder warrant for Reed has now been issued. Despite best efforts, Owens could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene. The circumstances that led to this tragic event are yet to be disclosed as the investigation continues.
