A Stockton man, 55-year-old Charles Billingsley Jr., has been sentenced to a substantial prison term of 15 years and eight months for his involvement in distributing large amounts of methamphetamine and heroin, U.S. Attorney Eric Grant disclosed.

Billingsley's sentencing came after a thorough investigation unveiled his active part in a drug trafficking ring from March through December 2019. According to case records released by the U.S. Attorney's Office, he conspired with other members to distribute the narcotics throughout Stockton, acquiring and distributing methamphetamine and heroin regularly for the group while also maintaining a considerable operation involving the cultivation of marijuana. U.S. District Judge William B. Shubb signed off on the sentence following Billingsley's adjudication on federal charges.

During a December 5, 2019, search of Billingsley’s two Stockton homes, law enforcement officers discovered over 1.5 pounds of methamphetamine, roughly 30 ounces of heroin, six ounces of cocaine, and four loaded firearms along with more than $33,000 in cash; they also eradicated 451 marijuana plants and seized in excess of 52 pounds of processed marijuana, evidencing a substantial illicit drug operation.

A coalition of agencies pooled efforts to dismantle Billingsley's operation. The Drug Enforcement Administration led the investigation with support from the FBI, Homeland Security Investigations, IRS Criminal Investigation, the California Highway Patrol, and the San Joaquin County Metropolitan Narcotics Task Force. These collaborative efforts are meant to combat drug trafficking and associated crimes within the community, but also reflect a broader objective. Under the guise of Operation Take Back America, the operation is part of a federal initiative aimed at vanquishing illegal immigration and the pernicious influence of cartels. Assistant U.S. Attorney David W. Spencer executed the prosecution of this case.

Operation Take Back America, as part of the broader efforts of President Trump's Executive Order 14159, "Protecting the American People Against Invasion," focuses extensively on the eradication of cartels and transnational criminal organizations, aiming to ensure the safety of communities across the nation by marshaling extensive resources from the Department of Justice and Department of Homeland Security, as stated by the U.S. Attorney's Office.
