The Metropolitan Police Department has reported the apprehension of an individual in connection with a shooting incident that took place in Fairlawn last year. The accused, identified as 42-year-old Christopher Warren of District Heights, MD, became the subject of a DC Superior Court arrest warrant following an investigative process carried out by the detectives. Warren was extradited on September 12, 2025, and has since been charged with Assault With a Dangerous Weapon (Gun).
Details from the MPD's official release recount that Sixth District officers were called to the scene on August 20, 2024, at around 2:10 a.m., after receiving a report of gunfire on the 1800 block of Q Street, Southeast. Upon arrival, they found an adult male gunshot victim, who was conscious and breathing, and promptly transported him to receive medical care. The incident's CCN is cited as 24127768.
This arrest signifies progress in a case that has lingered unresolved for over a year, bringing some relief to a community frequently beleaguered by gun violence. In what could only be described as a meticulous effort by the MPD, Christopher Warren was eventually linked to the crime, culminating in his arrest and extradition. The nature of the victim's recovery or current condition, however, remains undisclosed.
The charges against Warren are severe, and his future now rests in the hands of the legal system. Residents hope to see justice served, while community advocates continue to push for strategies aimed at curbing the cycle of violence that too often disrupts the fabric of neighborhoods like Fairlawn. The case against Warren is set to unfold as it moves through the judicial process.
