The Metropolitan Police Department has arrested a suspect in connection with a vehicular assault on an officer that occurred earlier this year on the 1300 block of U Street, Northwest.
As per the Metropolitan Police Department release, around 2:00 a.m. on July 14, a driver allegedly struck an officer with a car while attempting to flee a traffic stop, injuring the officer and damaging a vehicle. The officer’s injuries were non-life-threatening and treated at a local hospital.
Yesterday, 27-year-old Izuchukwu Igwe of Upper Marlboro, MD, was taken into custody under a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant. He faces charges including assault on a police officer. The case remains under review, and Igwe is awaiting further court action.
