An update provided by ABC10 conveyed that the shots were fired from outside the building, impacting the lobby window. The arrest was made earlier today at Hernandezsantana's home. The suspect's motives are still under scrutiny by the authorities. Prior to the apprehension, Deputy Chief Gamble had emphasized the department's commitment to resolving the case, stating, "We're going to figure out who's responsible for this."
Amidst this event, there was heightened tension surrounding ABC10 due to a recent controversy. Just the day before the shooting, the station was besieged by protesters reacting to ABC network's suspension of late-night host Jimmy Kimmel over comments about conservative activist Charlie Kirk. In the wake of the shooting, TEGNA, the company owning the ABC10 affiliate, released a statement confirming the attack and assuring the public of their employees' safety. The Governor's office, participating in the discourse, decried the violence on social media, proclaiming, "any act of violence toward journalists is an attack on our democracy itself and must be condemned in the strongest terms."
