A standoff in downtown Sacramento concluded early this morning when a man who had been armed with a knife and barricaded himself in an apartment surrendered to police, according to the Sacramento Police Department.
The incident, which unfolded in the 1100 block of 9th Street, began last night when Sacramento Police Department officers were called to the scene following a report of an assault involving a weapon, as reported by KCRA.
Negotiators from the SPD's crisis team, along with the SWAT, were deployed to manage the situation, which lasted close to six hours. In what turned into an overnight vigil for law enforcement, the standoff ended just after 5:30 a.m., with the unnamed suspect taken into custody without incident, as mentioned by FOX40.
