
A recent string of events has led to the arrest of a suspect in connection with a robbery and assault in Northeast DC. The Metropolitan Police Department reported that on Sunday evening, around 11:13 p.m., individuals were attacked by a group of suspects on the 5600 block of Nannie Helen Burrough Avenue. The victims suffered physical assault, after which the assailants proceeded to rob them of their belongings before slipping away into the night.
The following day, an investigation led Sixth District officers to the intersection of 63rd Street and Clay Street, Northeast. During their investigation, which was sparked by reports of armed individuals in the area, the police identified a subject linked to the prior night's robbery. It was 21-year-old Marquis Adams from Southeast, DC, who was taken into custody and is now facing robbery charges. According to a statement by the Metropolitan Police Department, the investigation continues and the department urges those with any information regarding the incident to step forward.
While a suspect has been arrested, it is clear that the MPD believes there may be others involved. As it stands, they are offering a reward for any information that could aid in resolving the case. The MPD has publicized a reward of up to $1,000 for tips that lead to the arrest and indictment of anyone else connected to the incident, as detailed on their website.
