During a targeted operation on Labor Day, a street racing suspect was apprehended by constable deputies after being caught in the act. The driver, identified as Jared Silva Paz, was arrested after deputies managed to pull him over following his participation in a high-speed race. A statement released by Precinct 4's Constable Mark Herman's Office detailed that the race placed other motorists in significant danger due to the reckless nature of the driving involved.
Upon stopping one of the involved vehicles, deputies noticed signs suggesting that Paz was possibly under the influence. After conducting a series of field sobriety tests, their suspicions were confirmed. It was revealed that Paz was not a first-time offender—this marked his second DUI charge. Consequently, authorities proceeded to book him and formally impound his vehicle.
According to a social media post, Jared Silva Paz is now facing charges that include Racing on the Highway and Driving While Intoxicated. The Harris County Jail received Paz, and the court set his bond at $200.00.
