Authorities are piecing together the details of a mid-afternoon smash-and-grab heist at a Sherman Oaks jewelry store, which unfolded on a bustling Wednesday. According to NBC Los Angeles, the incident occurred inside the Westfield Fashion Square Mall at Kristoff's Jewelers, where assailants smashed display cases, leaving a scene of shattered glass before fleeing the area.

Reportedly, police rushed to the mall following a robbery in progress around 4:37 p.m. The suspects had already scattered to a nearby Van Nuys location, where a vehicle thought to be connected with the crime was discovered approximately four miles from the scene, the LAPD mentioned, as per NBC Los Angeles.

As of now, no merchandise has been reported missing. The LAPD is currently seeking suspects related to this incident. No arrests have been made. Although police spotted the suspects, they had fled the mall before officers could detain them, ABC7 reports.

The Los Angeles Police Department is urging anyone with information to come forward in an effort to apprehend the suspects still at large. Witnesses or those with pertinent knowledge can reach out to the LAPD Van Nuys Division at 818-374-9500 to assist with the ongoing investigation, KTLA stated.
