A grim discovery in Tampa has led to the arrest of a teenager in connection with a recent homicide. The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has reported that on September 19, the body of Andie Morrell, age 37, was found at a vacant lot located on the 1500 block of North 39th Street. The Tampa Police Department initially responded to the scene.

Continuing their investigation, detectives pinpointed the scene of the murder to a residence on the 9400 block of Polak Drive, within unincorporated Hillsborough County. At this location, blood evidence was located which indicated that the murder took place there, according to information provided by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

Further investigative efforts led to the identification and subsequent arrest of 17-year-old Justin Hawker, whom detectives have charged with Second Degree Murder with a Firearm - Great Bodily Harm/Death. Sheriff Chad Chronister stated, “It is awful to see a crime like this and to see someone so young resort to such violence.” He also expressed appreciation for the collaboration between different law enforcement agencies: "I appreciate the strong partnership we have with the Tampa Police Department."

Chronister emphasized the commitment to accountability and community safety, “We will continue to hold violent offenders accountable and, protect the safety of our community.” As the investigation into this tragic incident goes on, authorities have reassured the public that the case remains active and ongoing.
