
A shooting in Walnut Park West has culminated in the death of a man, with a teenager now arrested in connection to the crime. According to a statement released by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department on the department's official website, a 16-year-old has been taken into custody on charges of first-degree murder following the execution of a search warrant.
The incident unfolded on August 24, around 8:40 p.m. when officers were dispatched to the intersection of Lillian & Goodfellow in response to a shooting report. Upon arrival, they discovered 46-year-old Corey Exum of St. Louis County, afflicted with multiple puncture wounds, and lying at the rear of a building in the 5000 block of Goodfellow. Despite efforts to quickly intervene and provide assistance, Exum was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical services.
Currently, homicide detectives are determinedly working to unravel what exactly led to the fatal incident. The name of the juvenile has not been released, following standard procedure for minors.
The teenager, whose identity is withheld due to his age, is presently being held in juvenile custody. Information regarding legal representation or upcoming court appearances has not been made public at this time.
